Toyota's Driving Possibilities Initiative Expands to Fulton County Schools
In an exciting development for STEM education in Fulton County Schools, Toyota's Driving Possibilities program is set to expand, marking the seventh site for this career readiness and community engagement initiative.
Launched in 2022 as a national program, Driving Possibilities aims to prepare youth for future careers by fostering an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The program, which is Toyota's largest and most comprehensive to date, spans the PreK-12 education continuum.
The expansion to Fulton County Schools will focus on increasing the level of service at existing Student and Family Engagement (SAFE) Centers. Toyota's support will extend community resources and services to PreK to eighth graders at identified schools. The successful model in West Dallas has served as a foundation for this expansion.
The initiative will provide additional learning resources for students, with a focus on integrating STEM learning with the Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) curriculum. This integration is expected to offer practical, hands-on experiences that will inspire students to pursue careers in STEM fields.
Partnerships with Kennesaw State University will provide STEM-specific professional development for educators, ensuring they are equipped to deliver the best possible educational experience. The Toyota USA Foundation, Toyota Motor North America (TMNA), and Toyota Financial Services (TFS) are funding the initiative.
While specific details about the impact of this expansion on Fulton County Schools' STEM education are not yet available, the general aim of Toyota's Driving Possibilities initiative is to introduce curricula or workshops emphasizing practical STEM applications, provide partnerships with resources like training, materials, or technology, and engage students through competitions, events, and mentorship to motivate their interest and achievement in STEM.
As more information becomes available, we will keep you updated on the progress of this exciting initiative in Fulton County Schools.
