Thousands of 7th Graders Learn Vital Safety Lessons at Delaware County's Progressive Agriculture Safety Day
Thousands of 7th graders from Delaware County have benefited from the Progressive Agriculture Safety Day, held earlier this month at the Delaware County Fairgrounds. This annual event, organized by ISU Extension and Outreach Delaware County in partnership with local sponsors, saw students learn vital safety lessons from various experts on their event date.
The day covered six crucial safety areas. Students rotated through stations focusing on PTO and Grain Safety, Lawn and Yard Equipment Safety, Electrical Safety, Road Safety, Fire Safety, and ATV and UTV Safety. Representatives from River Valley Coop, City of Manchester, Maquoketa Valley Rural Electrical Coop, Iowa State Patrol, Delaware County Firefighters Association, and Delaware County Sheriff's Department instructed the sessions.
This year's main event was a continuation of the successful program previously organized by the Delaware County Farm Bureau. Students from West Delaware, Maquoketa Valley, and Ed-Co school districts participated, making it a significant educational initiative for the region. The Progressive Agriculture Safety Day program is renowned as the largest rural safety and health education program for children in North America.
