Park University is gearing up for an exciting and eventful month, with a series of notable events, recognitions, and appointments.
Firstly, Gwendolyn Grant, '94, the president and chief executive officer of the Urban League of Greater Kansas City, has been selected as one of 435 Magazine's "50 Most Powerful People in Kansas City". Her achievements have been widely recognised, and her leadership continues to shape the city's future.
In academic news, Long Huynh has been appointed as the Associate Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Growth at Park University, effective from October 14. Huynh, an enrollment and marketing strategist with international business expertise, will oversee the University's digital and brand marketing functions, business development, and customer relations management. He will also provide leadership in developing, presenting, achieving, and monitoring the University's strategic enrollment plan.
The University's Online Master of Business Administration degree in accounting has been ranked No. 10 on DiscoverBusiness.us' "10 Most Affordable Online MBA Programs in Accounting for 2020" list. This recognition underscores Park University's commitment to providing quality and affordable education.
On the cultural front, Park University will host the International Festival on November 22. This event, in celebration of International Education Week, will feature information booths, performances, cultural activities, and fashion shows from countries around the globe, including Brazil, Japan, Kenya, Malawi, Micronesia, Mongolia, Nigeria, Russia, and South Korea.
The festival will be held in the University's Park Avenue area within the Academic Underground on the Parkville Campus, from 5 to 8 p.m. Other upcoming cultural events include a screening of the documentary "The Weight of Honor" on November 6, and the Parkville Symphonic Band Concert on November 3.
Park University is also co-hosting a conference titled "Human Rights: The Foundation of Peace Building" with two other Kansas City area higher education institutions.
In sports news, Vlatko Andonovski, '08, has been selected as the head coach of the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team. His appointment marks a significant milestone in his career, and Park University is proud to have played a part in his journey.

Bill Sobbe, Park University baseball assistant coach, was interviewed for a story related to the potential sale of the Kansas City T-Bones baseball club on Oct. 15.
