TFA & Aspen Institute Launch Rural School Leadership Academy

Teach For America (TFA) and the Aspen Institute's Policy Academy have joined forces to create the Rural School Leadership Academy (RSLA). This new initiative aims to empower rural educators with policy skills and leadership development.

The RSLA will select a group of fellows each year to participate in career development training and support. Upon completion, fellows will receive a co-branded certificate of leadership development.

Betsy Cooper, Director of the Aspen Policy Academy, recognizes the unique wisdom and experience of rural educators. She believes this partnership will equip them with policy skills to drive lasting change. Casey DeFord, Managing Director of Alumni Career Advancement & Field Integration at TFA, echoes this sentiment, stating that RSLA aims to support and grow rural school leaders.

Training will be delivered through a combination of virtual learning, in-person gatherings, rural school visits, and personalized coaching. The Policy Academy will design custom courses to drive instructional and operational improvements in schools and communities.

Through this partnership, TFA and the Aspen Institute's Policy Academy aim to strengthen rural education by developing the leadership skills of educators. The RSLA will provide fellows with a national network of peers and a co-branded certificate of leadership development upon completion.
