Telegram Expands in Kazakhstan, Launches AI Lab Praised by President Tokayev
Telegram has expanded its presence in Kazakhstan by joining Astana Hub and opening an office in the country. The messaging giant also launched AI labs at AIem.Ai, a move praised by Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Telegram's founder, Pavel Durov, met with President Tokayev at the Digital Bridge 2025 forum. They discussed potential collaborations in education, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. Durov expressed interest in implementing joint AI projects, with the AI lab in Kazakhstan serving as the hub for these initiatives. This lab, situated in the Alem.Ai building, will work alongside Kazakhstan's supercomputer cluster, supported by the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence of Kazakhstan.
Telegram's entry into Kazakhstan's tech scene is expected to boost the country's digital agenda. The AI lab, with its collaboration with the supercomputer cluster, could drive innovation and strengthen Kazakhstan's position in the global AI landscape.
