Telecom Egypt Names Tamer El Mahdi as New CEO
Telecom Egypt has appointed Tamer El Mahdi as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). El Mahdi brings a wealth of experience to the role, having held leadership positions across various multinational companies and sectors.
El Mahdi's appointment comes after Mohamed Nasr stepped down from his position as CEO and from the Board of Directors. With over three decades of experience, El Mahdi has a strong background in telecommunications and information technology. He holds an MBA in International Business Administration and a Master's in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
Prior to joining Telecom Egypt, El Mahdi served as Group CEO of Orascom Telecom Media and Technology (OTMT) from 2014 to 2019. He is also the Founder and Chairman of Trade Globe and Terrawaves Networks since 2020. His appointment is aimed at driving Telecom Egypt's growth and expansion, strengthening its customer base, and enhancing service quality.
El Mahdi's appointment follows the departure of Mohamed Al Fowey, VP & Chief Technical Officer, and Ahmed Hassan, VP & Chief Human Resources Officer. El Mahdi will oversee the process of appointing successors to these vacant positions.
