Amateur Radio and Electronics Youth Holiday Program a Success in Ottobeuren/Lower Allgäu

The DARC local chapter in Ottobeuren/Lower Allgäu recently organised a successful youth holiday program, focused on the world of amateur radio and electronics. The event aimed to introduce children and young people to the diverse hobby of amateur radio and technology.

The program kicked off with an electronics workshop, where radio amateurs guided participants in assembling their own kits. This hands-on experience provided a fun and engaging introduction to the basics of electronics.

Participants were also given the chance to learn the fundamentals of radio communication. They were introduced to radio operation during the event, which included using a shortwave amateur radio station to make connections all over the world using the digital mode FT8.

The afternoon was filled with excitement as participants embarked on a foxhunt, searching for small, hidden transmitters equipped with direction finders. This engaging activity allowed them to put their newfound knowledge to the test.

Catering was well taken care of throughout the day, and everyone relaxed by the crackling campfire after the search, enjoying the sociable and cozy atmosphere that preparing and eating stick bread over the open fire provided.

The local chapter would like to express their gratitude to all helpers and participants for their contributions to the event's success. They encourage others to present themselves publicly via the Allgäu Association Portal, and interested parties can contact the local chapter at any time to learn about planned activities.

The local chapter aims to offer more services with their new offerings, and similar events are planned for the coming year to further promote enthusiasm for radio and technology. The event offered an opportunity for children and young people to experience technology up close, and it showed them the diversity of the amateur radio hobby.

Unfortunately, the leader of the DARC local chapter who led the youth holiday program this year is not publicly available information. However, the editorial team checks and publishes reports submitted by clubs, schools, kindergartens, and other organizations, so keep an eye out for updates on future events.
