Teacher breaks Guinness World Record after teaching at same school for more than 60 years
Glenda Akin has set a new world record for the longest career as a female teacher at the same school. After 61 years and 43 days at Westmoreland High School, her dedication was officially recognised. The milestone was celebrated with a special ceremony on September 13, 2025.

The Guinness World Record was presented to her by school board member James E. 'Jim' Hines. The event marked her achievement as the longest-serving female teacher at a single institution.
