Swiss universities dominate global rankings with 28 top-ten programs
Switzerland has again proven its strength in higher education with 28 degree programs ranked in the global top ten. The latest rankings show Swiss institutions excelling across multiple fields, from hospitality to the sciences. Several programs have climbed in position, while others maintain long-standing dominance in their disciplines. The École Hôtelière de Lausanne remains unbeaten in hospitality, holding the top spot for seven consecutive years. This consistency reinforces Switzerland's reputation as the world leader in hospitality education.
ETH Zurich continues to dominate in scientific fields. It has led in Earth and Marine Sciences for 11 years and in Geology and Geophysics for seven. The institution alone accounts for 18 of Switzerland's 28 top-ten programs. This year's rankings also reveal shifts in performance. While 83 Swiss degree programs improved their positions, 79 saw a decline. Overall, only three countries have more top-ten programs than Switzerland, which spreads its success across 11 institutions. Degree completion rates remain high, with around 80% of Swiss students finishing their studies. This figure highlights both the quality of education and student commitment.
Switzerland's universities maintain a strong global presence, particularly in specialised fields. With ETH Zurich and the École Hôtelière de Lausanne leading their categories, the country's education system continues to attract recognition. The latest rankings reflect both enduring excellence and ongoing competition among its institutions.
