Swiss schoolchildren compose compositions inspired by the Eurovision atmosphere
Rewritten Article:
Hey there! Let's chat about some exciting news for students across Switzerland. They've been teaming up to create their very own tunes, all inspired by the Eurovision Song Contest!
Ain't that cool? Just like Tessa Cajani, a middle school pupil from Vernier, who shared her enthusiasm, "It's bloody awesome to belt out some tunes alongside my peers in front of an audience!"
These melodious collaborations involve students from 16 classes all over Switzerland, each working hard during music workshops to craft their unique musical masterpieces, with some professional assistance of course!
You can catch their performances live on May 15th at Basel's central Barfusserplatz, now rebranded as Eurovision Square, two days before the Eurovision final!
Tessa, a 13-year-old, recently gushed about how the project keeps her motivated to attend school, "This project has me frothing at the mouth to hit the books every day!"
Anais Carre, Tessa's music teacher at the Vernier school, couldn't be prouder that two of her classes were selected to join this fantastic trip down musical Memory Lane.
She explained that when the children found out, "Their faces lit up like Christmas morning! It was a maelstrom of joy! I knew they'd have the time of their lives working on this project."
The project's co-organizers include the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation - our trusty hosts for the Eurovision broadcast - and the SUISA national cooperative of music authors and publishers. The workshops see professional musicians helping the students learn the ropes of song composition, from penning the lyrics to getting the rhythm just right.
Gaspard Sommer, a seasoned artist and musician, is leading Carre's students as they work towards their grand performance. Sharing his thoughts on the project, Sommer mentioned that if it encourages even one child to find their passion for music, "We've got to make it happen!"
On a bustling Wednesday morning in March, Tessa and her fellow students gathered in the school's main hall to rehearse their composition, titled "Memories of Summer." With their feet tapping and heads bobbing, they used a piano to practice their lyrics and melody, based around a heart-warming chord sequence.
At one point, it became apparent that a verse didn't quite scan, so a lively debate ensued. "The girls had some killer suggestions, and after some tweaking, we managed to perfect the French lyrics," explained Carre.
The ultimate goal is to perform alongside thousands in Basel and bring home a little prize for their efforts! As Tessa exclaimed, "This is an dream come true! Ever since I was a sprout, I've wanted to stand up on a stage and belt out my melodies!"
Lyandro Soares Dias, another talented student, can't wait to experience the thrill of performing before a massive audience, "It's one massive European competition! It's like the Champions League, but for singers, and I've been hooked since I was a tot!" He revealed that it'd be nothing short of amazing if they got the chance to meet some Eurovision superstars!
So, that's the scoop on Switzerland's homegrown Eurovision-inspired tunes! The kids are working hard, and we can't wait to see their fantastic performances come to fruition! 🎤🎉🇨🇭🎉🎤
