Sverdlovsk’s New Internship Transforms Young Artists Into Cultural Leaders
A creative internship programme in the Sverdlovsk Region has already supported over 70 arts students since its launch in 2024. The initiative, titled Creative Internships for Young Cultural Professionals, offers training in piano, choral conducting, folk singing, music theory, and visual arts. Leading institutions like the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic and the Ural Center for Folk Art have backed the project from the start.
The programme is run by the Sverdlovsk Regional Center for Culture and Arts Education, a long-standing institution in the Middle Urals. Founded in 1974, it oversees children’s arts schools and colleges across the region. Its director, Olga Pavlovna Drozdova, led the centre to victory in the 2021 All-Russian Review-Competition under the Development of Career Guidance Systems category.
The internship has quickly become a key platform for young artists in the Sverdlovsk Region. With continued support from major cultural bodies, it aims to expand opportunities for students in music, visual arts, and education. The 300,000-ruble funding boost will further enhance training facilities and resources for future participants.
