Last Friday, a ceremony was held in Solingen to award master certificates and diplomas to 14 graduates of the advanced training examination for Industrial Master in the fields of Confectionery and Food. This event, which marks the graduation of the latest batch of students from this prestigious program, has been ongoing for over 50 years in the region.

The advanced training program in Solingen is specific to the Confectionery and Food industries, making it unique in Germany. The examination for this qualification is conducted exclusively in the Bergisches Städtedreieck, a region historically significant and strategically chosen for its central role in the country’s confectionery industry.

The ZDS (Zentralverband der Deutschen Süßwarenindustrie) in Solingen-Gräfrath, a world-renowned training and further education academy for the German confectionery industry, provides specialized, high-level training since 1951 to confectionery and food manufacturers both in Germany and internationally. This advanced training represents one of the highest qualifications in the sector, designed for industrial foremen and master-level professionals.

The training and examination are conducted in an education and innovation center with international recognition, facilitating a campus-like environment with modern facilities such as SMART Board classrooms and extensive industry connections. This ensures the curriculum and assessment are state of the art.

The ceremony recognised the strengthening of the graduates' technical skills during their training. The graduates were commended for their ability to take responsibility for the future of the industry. The families and friends of the graduates were acknowledged for their important support during the ceremony.

A total of 10 graduates were in the Confectionery field, and 4 were in the Food field. The dedication of the lecturers and volunteer examiners was recognised during the ceremony. The confectionery industry's digitalization and use of artificial intelligence were highlighted as central challenges and opportunities.

Carmen Bartl-Zorn, the IHK business manager, congratulated the graduates. The ceremony emphasised the importance of continuous professional development in a dynamic working world. Graduates travel from all over Germany to participate in this higher vocational training. The event emphasised the high quality of the continuing education that has been established in the Solingen region since 1969.

With the graduation of these 14 students, the advanced training examination for Industrial Master in Confectionery and Food continues to uphold its special status and significance within Germany’s confectionery sector.
