Students Rejoice in Success
Students at Erich Kästner School in Füssen have raised funds for their band project by selling handcrafted chocolate Advent calendars. The initiative involved collaboration with local organisations
The Advent calendars were designed by a ninth-grade student and filled with ethically sourced chocolate. Erich Kästner School, Fairtrade-certified since 2022, ensured the ingredients met high ethical standards. Band members sold the calendars during their free time at the Füssen World Shop and various stores across the town.
The project received strong backing from the Rotary Club Füssen, which helped organise the campaign and distribute the calendars. The 'Lernen fördern Füssen' support association, working alongside the local music school, runs the band project. Its aim is to boost social cohesion and self-confidence among young people through shared music-making. Proceeds from the calendar sales will go directly toward sustaining the band project. The initiative highlights how community effort can support educational and creative opportunities for students.
The sale of the Advent calendars has provided a financial boost to the school’s band project. With continued support from local partners, the initiative will help students develop musical skills while fostering teamwork and confidence. The project remains a key part of the school’s commitment to inclusive education.
