The Ural Institute of State Fire Service of the EMERCOM of Russia recently welcomed its new intake of cadets for the Fire and Technosphere Safety Faculty. The ceremony was graced by several distinguished guests, including the Presidential Envoy to the Urals Federal District, Artem Zhoga, and the Minister for Civil Defense, Emergencies, and Disaster Relief, Alexander Kurenkov.

A total of 183 cadets, hailing from 16 regions across Russia, were in attendance. Among them, 103 were from the Ural Federal District, and 25 were women. The cadets include graduates of cadet corps and classes, and four of them are candidates for master of sports of Russia, with one already holding the title.

The Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region, Denis Vladimirovich Pasler, who took office on September 16, 2025, was also in attendance. The acting deputy governor of the region, Azat Salikhov, was present as well.

During his address, Zhoga emphasized that the cadets had taken on a great responsibility for the lives and health of others. He noted that the path they had chosen was challenging but a conscious and adult step that would change their lives.

The parents of the first-year cadets were also in attendance, showing their support for their children's decision to pursue a career in fire service. The university's management and faculty were present, adding to the solemn atmosphere of the event.

Zhoga stated that in critical situations, the well-being of others would depend on the professionalism, experience, and personal qualities of the cadets. He encouraged them to uphold the highest standards of their profession and to always put the safety of others first.

Earlier, almost 2,000 Ural residents joined an online meeting of the "Patriots of the Urals" forum, showing a strong interest in the event and the work of the fire service. The ceremony marked the start of an exciting journey for the new cadets, as they embark on their path to becoming skilled and dedicated firefighters.
