Student podcasts shine at Leipzig Book Fair's BUCHERALARM Awards 2025

The Leipzig Book Fair celebrated literary creativity and education from March 19 to 22. Among the highlights were the BUCHERALARM Awards, where student-produced podcasts took centre stage. Three schools received top honours for their engaging literary episodes.

First place went to Albert Einstein Gymnasium in Maintal. Their podcast explored Verraten by Grit Poppe, impressing judges with its depth and presentation. The jury included well-known figures from German education and literature.

Second prize was awarded to Heinrich Böll School in Rodgau. Their episode on *Alle Farben Grau* by Martin Schäuble stood out for its thoughtful analysis. Wagenburg Gymnasium in Stuttgart secured the Foreign Language Award for an English-language podcast on *The Disconnect* by Keren David. Herderschule Rendsburg claimed third place with a discussion on *Erebos* by Ursula Poznanski. All winning episodes are now available to stream online. Publisher Ernst Klett Sprachen, a supporter of reading and media literacy, had multiple entries recognised at the event. The awards ceremony highlighted how literature and podcasting can inspire students. The fair itself showcased global literary diversity alongside educational innovation.

The winning podcasts demonstrate how schools are using modern media to engage with books. Ernst Klett Sprachen continues to play a key role in promoting reading and digital skills in classrooms. The BUCHERALARM Awards remain a platform for young voices in literature.
