State-wide teacher recruitment and retention initiative launched by KDE to encourage and bolster Kentucky's educators
Kentucky Department of Education Launches Campaign to Celebrate Teaching Profession
The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) has launched a new marketing campaign aimed at celebrating and elevating the teaching profession. The campaign, which was announced by Commissioner of Education Robbie Fletcher, aims to ignite a passion for education among those who will shape the next generation of learners.
At the heart of the campaign are the GoTeachKY ambassadors, a diverse group of 21 educators from across Kentucky, selected for their dedication and excellence in teaching. These ambassadors are featured prominently in the campaign, with billboards showcasing their faces statewide and a new television commercial highlighting the impactful work they do and the difference they make in students' lives.
The television commercial will air on various networks and digital platforms throughout the state, while the billboard campaign has already begun. The campaign also includes digital marketing efforts, such as social media promotions and targeted online advertising.
In addition to the marketing efforts, KDE has consolidated the Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB) and GoTeachKY websites into a new website. This revamped GoTeachKY website offers comprehensive resources for individuals interested in pursuing a teaching career in Kentucky. It provides information on certification pathways, scholarship opportunities, mentorship programs, and resources for local school districts.
Meredith Brewer, KDE's associate commissioner in the Office of Educator Licensure and Effectiveness (OELE), stated that the new website launch is an important step in making it easier for potential educators to access the information they need. "We want to make it as simple as possible for individuals to learn about the teaching profession and take the first steps towards becoming a teacher in Kentucky," she said.
The new GoTeachKY website was developed by the Kentucky Department of Education in collaboration with other educational partners. It offers a more streamlined, user-friendly experience, with easy-to-navigate menus and clear, concise information.
Commissioner Fletcher emphasized the importance of recruiting and retaining great teachers for Kentucky's students. "Our educators are the backbone of our education system, and we want to make sure that we are doing everything we can to support them and attract new talent to the profession," he said.
The focus of the marketing campaign remains on motivating future teachers and celebrating the teaching profession. Fletcher mentioned that the latest marketing efforts aim to highlight the impactful work of educators and inspire future teachers to join the ranks of those making a difference every day.
With the new GoTeachKY website and marketing campaign, KDE is shining a spotlight on the incredible educators who make a difference every day, and providing resources and support for those who want to join them. For more information, visit the new GoTeachKY website at www.goteachky.com.
