Star Singers Launch Charity Drive to Fight Child Labour in 2026
The Star Singers from St. Joseph and St. Martin parishes in Langenfeld have begun their annual charity campaign. From January 3 to January 10, 2026, the group is collecting donations to combat child labour and support education. Their visit to the Town Hall included a blessing and a meeting with Mayor Gerold Wenzens.
The campaign kicked off with the singers blessing the Town Hall, marking the door with the inscription '20*C+M+B+26'. They performed a traditional song and explained their mission to raise funds for the Holy Childhood Association. This year’s slogan, 'School Instead of Factory – Star Singing for Children’s Rights', highlights the issue of child labour in Bangladesh.
Mayor Wenzens welcomed the group and commended their dedication to social causes. He emphasised the importance of their work in raising awareness about child labour and funding educational projects for vulnerable children. The donations gathered during the week-long event will directly support local initiatives aimed at improving access to schooling.
The Star Singers’ efforts will run until January 10, with all proceeds going to the Holy Childhood Association. Their campaign focuses on replacing child labour with education, particularly in regions like Bangladesh. The Town Hall visit marked the start of a week of fundraising across Langenfeld.
