A New Book Exchange Shelf Enters the Paulskirche Community

A unique book exchange shelf has made its debut at the Paulskirche community festival in Frankfurt, thanks to the support of the Sparkasse Fürth and local community members.

The project, initiated by Pastor André Fischer and dedicated members, aims to bring literature into the neighborhood in an uncomplicated and free way. The unusual installation is a rusty metal cabinet filled with books, accessible 24/7 and located directly at the entrance of St. Paul's Church.

The Sparkasse Fürth provided 3,000 euros for the project, as part of the 125th anniversary of the Paulskirche. The funds for the project came from the PS-purpose profit, which is generated from the savings and winnings of the Sparkasse. A local metalworker contributed to the creation of the shelf, with its base built by volunteers in a workshop.

Dr. Benedikt Döhl, a city councilor and cultural and social affairs representative, described the project as "an important place for encounter and exchange." The book exchange shelf attracted many curious minds and book lovers at the festival, serving as a dynamic cycle with new content added and taken continuously.

The Sparkasse Fürth supported the project in celebration of the 125th anniversary of the Paulskirche, which originally completed in 1833 and replaced a dilapidated church. The church and surrounding area host various cultural and community events, but the current available information does not mention a book exchange installation or related festival activities.

While the origins of the book exchange shelf may not be widely known, its impact on the community is clear. It provides a free and accessible way for people to share their love of literature with others, fostering a sense of connection and exchange. The book exchange shelf adds a unique and charming touch to the Paulskirche community festival, making it an even more engaging and welcoming space for all.
