South Korean stars trade fame for classrooms as university professors

Several well-known South Korean entertainers have taken on teaching roles at universities in recent years. These figures now share their expertise in acting, music, and dance with students. Their appointments span fields like AI, vocal training, and multimedia performance.

Actor Yoo Ji-tae has been a professor at Konkuk University's Department of Media Acting since 2023. For the spring 2026 semester, he teaches Scene Acting 1, Graduation Film Workshop 1, and Graduation Theatre Project 1. His courses focus on acting techniques and film writing for aspiring performers.

Yoo Yeon-seok, another prominent actor, is teaching Multimedia Performance at Sejong University this semester. His classes help senior acting students adapt their skills to different media environments.

In music, singer ALi joined Hongik University as a professor in the contemporary music major in August 2024. She leads Vocal Ensemble and offers individualised vocal training to students.

Dancer Aiki, an adjunct professor at Sungshin Women's University's Department of Dance Art since 2024, is teaching Dance Workshop Training 1 and Major Dance Practice 5 this semester. Her courses cover practical dance techniques and performance skills.

Beyond the arts, K-pop star G-Dragon is serving as a visiting professor at KAIST's Department of Mechanical Engineering until June 2026. He delivers special lectures and conducts research in AI and entertainment, blending technology with creative industries.

These entertainers bring real-world experience into academic settings. Their courses provide students with specialised training in acting, music, dance, and emerging fields like AI. No additional public figures from the entertainment industry are currently confirmed for similar university roles in South Korea.
