Solingen's New Free Trolleybus Quiz Turns City Rides Into Adventures
A new free trolleybus quiz tour has launched in Solingen, designed for children, teens, and families. The interactive game turns a ride through the city into a detective-style adventure. Participants must observe their surroundings closely and answer questions along the way.
The tour begins at Graf-Wilhelm-Platz in the city centre and follows a route toward Solingen Central Station. Players engage with a multimedia quiz, testing their knowledge of the area while exploring the city's electric trolleybuses.
The project has strong local support. Sonja Flemm, wife of Solingen's lord mayor and a CDU member, serves as its patron. Funding comes from the Gerd Kaimer Foundation, set up by a former mayor. Organisers hope the experience will encourage volunteerism and build a deeper connection to Solingen's public transport. Unlike traditional sightseeing, this tour blends education with entertainment. No prior knowledge is required—just curiosity and a willingness to explore.
The quiz tour is now open to the public at no cost. It offers a fresh way to discover Solingen while promoting community engagement. The initiative also highlights the city's long-standing trolleybus network in an interactive format.
