Six Canadian universities dominate top 100 in global subject rankings

The latest QS World University Rankings by Subject have been released, showcasing the performance of over 1,900 institutions worldwide. Six Canadian universities secured spots in the top 100 across five broad subject areas, matching last year's count.

The 16th edition of the rankings evaluated universities in life sciences and medicine, engineering and technology, natural sciences, arts and humanities, and social sciences and management. The University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia stood out, both placing within the top 30 in all five categories.

The University of Toronto remained Canada's highest-ranked institution, with positions ranging from 12th to 17th across subjects. Meanwhile, the University of British Columbia improved its standing in two areas: engineering and technology, and social sciences and management. The University of Waterloo also saw gains, climbing seven positions in one subject and five in another. McMaster University held its place in the top 100 for life sciences and medicine, moving up from 59th to 56th. The University of Alberta entered the top 100 for the first time in natural sciences, securing 98th place.

This year's rankings confirm the steady presence of Canadian universities in global subject-specific performance. Six institutions maintained their top-100 positions, with notable improvements in specific fields. The results reflect ongoing strengths in research and academic reputation across the country.
