Serov hosts pioneering seminar to bridge schools and agrotech careers

The first methodological seminar on agrotechnological education took place on March 27 at School No. 26 in Serov, Sverdlovsk Oblast. Organised to strengthen ties between schools and higher education, the event focused on preparing young people for careers in agriculture. Educators, local officials, and university representatives gathered to discuss training programmes and industry opportunities. The seminar brought together teachers from 14 schools across Krasnoturinsk and the Serov Municipal District, along with government officials. Its aim was to boost youth involvement in agriculture by integrating modern teaching methods and research projects.

Olga Safina, head of the Career Development and Vocational Guidance Department at Ural State Agrarian University, delivered the keynote presentation. She outlined the university's plan for specialised agrotechnological classes, developed in partnership with regional schools. These classes provide hands-on training in precision farming, crop and livestock management, and digital tools like drones and sensors. Safina also highlighted the strong job prospects for graduates, who can pursue roles as agrotechnicians, farm managers, or agro-IT specialists. The university's collaboration with schools ensures students gain practical skills aligned with the needs of the Ural agricultural sector. The seminar further supported teachers in adopting new technologies and research-based approaches to education.

The event marked a step toward closer cooperation between schools and Ural State Agrarian University. Specialised agrotechnological classes will now offer students direct pathways into agricultural careers. Graduates entering the workforce are expected to fill key roles in the region's farming and agrotech industries.
