School officials considering lion's share of BioNTech vaccine jabs for students
Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn of the CDU has announced that BioNTech vaccine doses will primarily be reserved for the summer to facilitate the reopening of schools. This move is aimed at ensuring that children from all backgrounds have an equal chance in life, a right that Spahn believes should not be compromised by the ongoing Corona pandemic.
Spahn has expressed little understanding for the criticism of medical functionaries about the abolition of vaccination prioritization. He believes that the focus should be on addressing the impact of the pandemic on children, particularly those from socially disadvantaged families.
The federal states aim to offer vaccinations to minors by the end of August. Spahn plans to discuss the organization of the next vaccination campaign with doctors, federal states, and municipalities at the beginning of summer. To better understand the impact of the pandemic on children, he also plans to discuss the issue with pediatricians, psychologists, and educational scientists before the summer holidays.
The Corona pandemic has led to a decrease in preventive examinations for children, missed vaccinations against childhood diseases, and psychological strains. Spahn is concerned about these issues and has made it clear that the government is duty-bound to ensure that every child in Germany has a fair chance in life.
Spahn is not advocating for a third Corona vaccination at this time. He believes that a third vaccination may not be necessary until at least winter. However, he remains committed to ensuring that the vaccination campaign is organized effectively and that all necessary measures are taken to protect the health and wellbeing of children in Germany.
