On May 1, 2025, a special ceremony took place at School No. 24 in Nizhny Novgorod. The occasion? The formal introduction of the "Hero's Desk."
This remarkable tribute is dedicated to the memory of alumnus, Sergei Busarov, who tragically lost his life during a special military operation (SVO). The event was a poignant gathering of Sergei's family, friends, district administration representatives, teachers, and fellow students.
Alexander Ivanov, Head of the Soviet District Administration, delivered a passionate speech, emphasizing the importance of the project:
"The 'Hero's Desk' stands as a testament to our gratitude for those who sacrificed their lives to defend our nation's honor and freedom. We want our children to learn from the bravery of our fallen heroes."
The school's director, Polina Sushchevskaya, explained that the privilege to sit at the "Hero's Desk" would be bestowed upon the most exceptional students, demonstrating academic proficiency and active involvement in civic affairs.
As the ceremony drew to a close, a moment of silence blanketed the room, followed by a touching floral tribute to honor Sergei Busarov's enduring legacy.
Previously, a memorial plaque was installed on the school's facade, and an informative exhibit about Sergei's life and heroic deeds was added to the school museum.
Note: A standout student at School No. 24 for nine years, Sergei Busarov not only excelled in sports but also served his country bravely. In July 2021, he was drafted and began his military service in August of the same year. Tragically, he passed away on October 17, 2022, during his line of duty in Kupiansk, Kharkiv region, with courage and honor. In accordance with the President of the Russian Federation's decree of November 30, 2022, Sergei Alexandrovich Busarov posthumously received the Order of Courage.
While accurate details regarding this unique dedication have yet to be confirmed from local school records or regional announcements, it is believed to symbolize the memorialization of alumni who valiantly served in military operations, in line with the general focus on honoring Heroes of Russia and military personnel.
In 2022, a memorial dedicated to the late alumnus Sergei Busarov, who lost his life during a military operation, was planned to be installed at School No. 24 in Nizhny Novgorod. The students at the school, demonstrating exemplary academic proficiency and active involvement in civic affairs, will be honored to sit at the "Hero's Desk" in 2025. Before the formal unveiling of this tribute, a memorial plaque and an informative exhibit about Sergei's life were already in place.
