Fewer Drunken Teens in the North Ending Up in Hospitals - Schleswig-Holstein’s youth tackle binge drinking with creative poster contest
A new phase of the bunt statt blau ('Colorful, Not Blue') campaign has launched in Schleswig-Holstein to tackle binge drinking among young people. The initiative, run with DAK-Gesundheit, is calling on students aged 12 to 17 to design posters warning about the dangers of excessive alcohol consumption. Cash prizes totalling around €12,000 are up for grabs, with entries accepted until March 31, 2026.
The campaign comes as hospital figures reveal a slight drop in alcohol poisoning cases among young people. In 2024, 275 individuals aged 10 to 19 were treated for alcohol poisoning in Schleswig-Holstein—a 6% decrease from the previous year. Among these, 132 were boys and 143 were girls.
The bunt statt blau initiative continues its efforts to raise awareness about binge drinking risks among teenagers. With a mix of creative competition and public health data, the campaign aims to further reduce alcohol-related harm in the region. The submission deadline for entries remains open until the end of March 2026.
