19,000 Youth Explore Careers During Action Week - Saxony's Open Company Week Draws Record 19,000 Students to Career Exploration
A record number of students in Saxony took part in this year's Open Company Week. The event, now in its 20th year, ran from March 9 to 14 and attracted over 19,000 participants. Pupils from seventh grade upwards explored careers through hands-on experiences across the state.
Nearly 1,800 businesses and institutions opened their doors for the week. They offered over 50,000 internship and workshop spots, with two-thirds filling up quickly. Students tried out everything from traditional trades to less common professions.
The initiative is part of the state Ministry of Education's *Check It Out!* campaign. Its website lists available placements, helping young people discover different career paths. Many got a first look at daily work routines and apprenticeship opportunities. Next year's *Open Company Week* has already been set for March 8 to 13. Organisers expect similar interest as the programme continues to grow in popularity.
The event gave thousands of students direct experience in various fields. With record participation, it remains a key way for young people in Saxony to explore future careers. Planning for the 2025 edition is now underway.
