Saxony is preparing for a year-long celebration of Jewish culture in 2026, titled 'Tacheles'. This main event series will feature over 300 projects aimed at fostering cultural exchange and historical reflection. Organisers have secured €1.45 million in funding to bring concerts, exhibitions, and discussions to life across the region.
The themed year will begin on December 14, 2025, with the lighting of a unique Hanukkah menorah. This specially designed piece blends the traditional Saxon Christmas Schwibbogen with the Jewish chanukkiah, symbolising unity between cultures.
The 'Tacheles' initiative will span music, art, and discussion, supported by €1.45 million in public funding. With over 300 projects planned, the celebration aims to highlight Jewish contributions to Saxony’s history while promoting understanding.
