Saxony celebrates Jewish culture with hundreds of projects - Saxony Unveils *Tacheles*: A Year-Long Celebration of Jewish Culture in 2026
Saxony is preparing for a year-long celebration of Jewish culture in 2026. Titled Tacheles, the event will feature over 300 projects, from concerts to exhibitions, all aimed at fostering cultural exchange and historical reflection. Funding of around €1.45 million has been secured to support the wide-ranging programme.
The festivities will begin on December 14, 2025, with the lighting of a unique Hanukkah 2024 menorah. This specially designed piece merges the traditional Christmas Schwibbogen with the Hanukkah chanukkiah, symbolising the blend of cultures. Throughout the year, attendees can expect concerts, readings, theatre performances, and workshops across the region.
The Tacheles programme will run throughout 2026, offering a mix of cultural, educational, and artistic events. With funding in place and a diverse schedule, the celebration seeks to highlight Jewish contributions to Saxony’s heritage. Organisers hope the year will deepen connections between communities and encourage ongoing reflection.
