Bakery Workshop and Repair Café: State Supports Microprojects - Saxony-Anhalt funds 22 local projects to enhance community life for seniors

Twenty-two local projects in Saxony-Anhalt will receive state funding to improve community life. The initiative supports small-scale schemes designed to boost quality of life, particularly for older residents. A total of €361,000 has been allocated across the selected proposals.

The funding follows a competitive application process, with 56 projects initially vying for support. Among the successful bids are a new spinning room in Benneckenstein, a combined baking workshop and village café in Jahmo, and a repair café in Gommern. Each project was chosen for its potential to strengthen local ties and provide practical benefits.

The grants focus on helping people age comfortably in their own neighbourhoods. Reliable care and age-friendly services remain key concerns for many older adults. However, none of the 22 funded schemes explicitly include measures to meet specific accessibility standards for elderly residents.

The €361,000 investment will roll out across Saxony-Anhalt in the coming months. The projects aim to foster community spirit while addressing everyday needs. Officials have not announced whether future funding rounds will prioritise accessibility upgrades.
