Saxon Geography Olympiad Sets New Record with 14,000 Young Competitors

The 20th Saxon Geography Olympiad has concluded with record participation. Over 14,000 students from 177 schools across Saxony took part in the competition. The event tested advanced geographic knowledge, topographical skills, and general geographical literacy.

The competition unfolded across multiple rounds, drawing 14,119 participants. It stands as one of the largest secondary school events in the region.

In the 7th grade category, Pierre Gerullis secured first place. Lilly Görlich, a student from Weinböla Secondary School, followed closely in second. Karl Waak took third position in the same age group.

For the 10th graders, Daniel Pierre Gasly claimed the top spot. Jonathan Horn placed second, while Lina Marie Ludewig finished third. The Olympiad recognised Pierre Gerullis and Daniel Pierre Gasly as the overall winners for their respective grades.

The Olympiad highlighted the skills of young geographers across Saxony. Winners like Pierre Gerullis and Daniel Pierre Gasly demonstrated exceptional knowledge in their categories. The event reinforced its reputation as a key academic competition for secondary students in the region.
