Russia's Zavtrak student newspaper celebrates 19 years of award-winning journalism
The student newspaper Zavtrak has marked nearly two decades of publishing since its launch in 2005. Founded by Maria Vladimirovna Kaluzhskaya, the paper has grown into one of the most decorated student publications in Russia. Over the years, it has released 72 issues and produced nearly 1,000 articles. Zavtrak began under Kaluzhskaya's leadership and soon gained recognition for its quality. The team behind the paper has dedicated over 5,000 hours to writing, editing, and refining its content. Their efforts have earned them a place in 63 competitions across regional and national levels.
In recent years, the newspaper has collected numerous awards. It was named the 'Best Print Publication in Sverdlovsk Oblast' for 2021–2025. Moscow State University also honoured it as the 'Best Print Publication' in 2023. That same period saw Zavtrak win a silver prize as a 'Leader of Youth Media in the Urals' at the Press-CODE competition.
The paper's success extends to multiple Grand Prix victories at city and regional events. For the past nine years, Anastasia Vladimirovna Podkovyrkina has served as its mentor, guiding the team through its achievements. Zavtrak now stands as one of Russia's most awarded student newspapers. Its 72 issues and nearly 1,000 articles reflect a long-standing commitment to journalism. The publication continues to set high standards in youth media, backed by years of hard work and recognition.
