Russia’s top student statisticians to compete in 2026 national Olympiad
The 16th All-Russian Student Olympiad in Statistics will take place during the 2025-2026 academic year. Organised by Rosstat and Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, the event aims to boost statistical skills and identify promising talent in the field. Applications are now open for student teams across Russia.
The competition is split into two phases. The Preliminary Round runs from January to March 2026, followed by the Main Round in April 2026. Teams must consist of three students, all enrolled in economics-related programmes, and be guided by a university lecturer.
Rosstat and Plekhanov Russian University of Economics are overseeing the event. Their goal is to improve statistical literacy, strengthen professional training, and spot gifted students who could contribute to Rosstat’s future workforce. Those wishing to take part must submit their applications by December 19, 2025, via the official email: [email protected].
The Olympiad offers students a chance to test their statistical knowledge and gain recognition. Successful participants may also attract opportunities within Rosstat’s personnel development programmes. The deadline for entries is fast approaching, with all submissions due by mid-December 2025.
