Russia's Free Drone Training Program Takes Off in Khabarovsk

Pacific National University in Khabarovsk has launched a free advanced training program in drone operation and maintenance. The 144-hour course is open to all students and professionals, with no age restrictions. It aligns with Russia's national project Unmanned Aviation Systems, initiated by President Vladimir Putin in 2020. The program covers key areas such as regulatory frameworks, pre-flight checks, piloting, and technical maintenance. Participants also learn diagnostics and basic repairs for drone technology. Practical sessions are led by specialists with government experience in unmanned systems.

The course aims to develop real-world strategies for safe and reliable drone operations. It prepares participants for civilian and government applications, offering skills useful across multiple industries. So far, 46 people—including college students and working professionals—have enrolled in the first intake. Similar programs have appeared at other Russian institutions, such as Siberian Federal University and the Russian University of Transport. These initiatives support the national goal of establishing a new economic sector and training personnel by 2030.

The free program at Pacific National University reflects Russia's push to expand expertise in unmanned aviation. With 46 participants already enrolled, it provides hands-on training for a growing industry. The course structure ensures graduates gain practical experience in both civilian and government drone applications.
