Russia's Bold Plan to Train One Million Specialists by 2030 Kicks Off

Russia has launched a new initiative to train specialists in key industries through targeted education programmes. Starting 1 March 2026, organisations can submit requests via the Work in Russia digital platform to shape university curricula according to their business needs. The scheme aims to produce over one million skilled professionals by 2030.

The application window opened on 1 March 2026, allowing companies of all types to request tailored training for future employees. These requests will secure dedicated university places for the 2027/2028 academic year. Employers can then hire graduates who are immediately prepared for their roles.

Priority sectors include IT, healthcare, engineering (especially mechanical and aerospace), education, agriculture, and heavy industry. The programme aligns with Russia's Human Resources national project, introduced in 2025 under President Vladimir Putin's direction.

Applications must be submitted through the Work in Russia portal at https://trudvsem.ru/information-pages/target-education-demand. The deadline for organisations to participate is 1 April 2026.

The initiative connects employers directly with universities to develop specialised skills in high-demand fields. By 2030, it plans to train over one million professionals across critical industries. Companies can now submit their workforce training needs before the April deadline.
