Russia's 2026/2027 school year may feature four terms and extended winter breaks

A proposed school calendar for the 2026/2027 academic year in Russia outlines four terms and several holiday periods. The schedule includes breaks for winter, spring, summer, and autumn, with some variations for younger students. However, no official confirmation of these dates has been issued by any Russian region or federal authority.

The academic year would begin on September 1, 2026, with the first term running until October 31. A fall break is then planned from November 1 to 8, before the second term starts on November 9 and continues until December 24.

Winter holidays would last from December 25, 2026, to January 10, 2027. After this, the third term would take place from January 11 to March 20. Younger pupils—those in first and second grades, as well as third-graders with special needs—would also receive an additional winter break from February 15 to 21, 2027.

Spring break is set for March 21 to 28, 2027. The final term would then run from March 29 to May 31, though students in grades 9 to 11 would finish earlier, on May 25. The summer break would officially start on June 1 and last until August 31, 2027.

The proposed calendar divides the school year into four terms with fixed holiday periods. Some students would receive extra breaks, depending on their grade level or educational needs. As of now, no Russian region has confirmed these dates, leaving the plan unofficial.
