Russian agriculture scholars honored at 4th International Dialogue Award in Moscow
The 4th International Dialogue Award celebrated achievements in agricultural science and education at a ceremony in Moscow. Held at the AGRAVIA exhibition in Crocus Expo, the event brought together experts from universities, research centres, and the agribusiness sector. Winners were recognised across fields like veterinary science, agronomy, and food technology.
Among the honoured was Olga Gorelik, a professor and Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, who took home the Mentor of the Year award. Ural State Agrarian University also received accolades for its research in veterinary medicine and animal husbandry—its third such win in this category.
The awards highlighted contributions from leading scholars. The expert committee singled out the published work of Olga Gorelik and Maxim Rebezov, both professors, as well as associate professors Svetlana Kharlap and Oksana Likhodeyevskaya. Their research was noted for its impact on agricultural science and education.
Gorelik spoke about the importance of nurturing young talent in agrarian studies. She described the award as an honour and stressed the need to guide the next generation of scholars in the field.
The ceremony also reflected broader challenges in international collaboration. Since 2021, geopolitical tensions linked to the Ukraine conflict have limited Russian participation in global science initiatives. Sanctions and reduced partnerships with Western institutions have cut access to major programmes like Horizon Europe. However, some cooperation continues with BRICS nations, including China and India.
The event at Crocus Expo underscored the resilience of Russian agricultural research despite global pressures. Winners like Olga Gorelik and Ural State Agrarian University gained recognition for their contributions to science and mentorship. The awards also served as a reminder of the shifting landscape for international academic partnerships in the sector.
