Retired priest’s new book teaches calmness as a daily practice

Ullrich Auffenberg, a 76-year-old retired priest, has released a new book titled Don’t Worry. 36 Impulses for Calmness. Presented at the Caritas centre in Büren, the work offers guidance on finding inner peace through simple yet deliberate practices. Though rooted in his decades of pastoral experience, the book aims to reach a broad audience beyond religious circles.

Born in Paderborn in 1949, Auffenberg was ordained in 1974 and spent years serving in pastoral and educational roles within the Archdiocese of Paderborn. Even in retirement, he admits that achieving calmness remains difficult due to long-held convictions. His latest book, published by Herder under ISBN 978-3-451-03568-5, argues that tranquillity is not an innate talent but a mindset requiring practice.

The book is now available through Herder and Be&Be. Its structured approach and practical advice aim to help readers develop a lasting attitude of calm. Auffenberg’s decades of experience shape the work, but its methods are designed for universal use.
