NEB Class 12 Results Released: Pass Rate Rises by 9.02%

The National Examination Board (NEB) has officially announced the results for the Class 12 regular and grade improvement (partial) exams. The pass rate has seen a significant increase, with 61.17% of the students passing, an improvement of 9.02% compared to the previous year [4].

A total of 511,000 students participated in the examinations, including 395,000 regular students and 115,000 under the partial category. The exams were conducted in 1,591 exam centers designated for students from 5,202 schools across the nation [1][3][5].

The shift of school-level authority to local governments, which has reportedly improved the teaching culture, may have positively influenced student performance [4]. However, concerns remain about the quality and comparability of the results, as experts have expressed that the sudden rise in pass rate may partly reflect lower examination standards rather than purely improved learning outcomes [4].

The pass rate for regular students stands at 61.17%, while the pass rate for partial students is 36.49% [4]. Despite the improvement in the pass rate among regular students, the partial category still showed poor results.

The Class 12 examinations were delayed by 10 days due to a nationwide teachers' strike. A total of 2,84,305 students received a pass grade (graded) in the Class 12 exam, while 13,502 students scored in the top GPA bracket of 3.61 to 4.00 [4].

Unfortunately, many students failed (received non-graded results) in subjects like English, Accountancy, Social Studies, and Nepali. It is worth noting that students who fail to secure a minimum of 35% marks in the theoretical portion of any subject receive a non-graded result [4].

The results have been made accessible through the official websites of the National Examination Board and Nepal Telecom. The lowest participation was from Manang with only 45 students, whereas Kathmandu saw the highest participation with 68,000 students [1].

Seventeen students had their exams cancelled due to misconduct, and 11 of these cancellations were from regular students, while 6 were from partial students [1].

The results were announced during the board meeting held on Monday, Shrawan 2082. The Class 12 examinations were conducted from May 4 to May 16, 2025 [3].

Results from the National Examination Board (NEB) show that students studying for MBA in IT schools across Kathmandu have had a significant improvement in their education-and-self-development, as the pass rate for Class 12 exams saw an increase of 9.02% compared to the previous year. Despite the positive growth, concerns over the examination results' quality and comparability remain, with experts suggesting that the increase in the pass rate might partly reflect lower examination standards rather than enhanced learning outcomes. The NEB results have become available online, showing that Kathmandu had the highest participation with 68,000 students. However, unfortunately, some students from Kathmandu and other regions failed in subjects like English, Accountancy, Social Studies, and Nepali. The NEB results analysis also indicates that 17 students had their exams canceled due to misconduct, with 11 cancellations from regular students and 6 from partial students. The general news discussed the implications of the Class 12 results and the possible correlation between the policy changes, such as shifting school-level authority to local governments, and the improvement in student performance.
