Registration for January's UNT in Kazakhstan is starting
Applications for the January 2026 Unified National Testing (UNT) in Kazakhstan will open on December 22. The exam offers a second chance for those who missed the summer session or wish to improve their scores. Registration runs until December 30, with testing scheduled from January 10 to February 10.
The UNT consists of three mandatory subjects: History of Kazakhstan, Reading Literacy, and Mathematical Literacy. Applicants also choose two additional elective subjects. In total, the exam includes 120 questions, with a maximum possible score of 140 points.
During the test, participants can use a calculator, the periodic table of elements, and a solubility table for salts. These tools aim to support accuracy in science and maths-related questions. Eligibility extends to several groups, including high school graduates, students seeking to transfer, and Kazakhstani citizens who studied abroad. Ethnic Kazakhs without citizenship and current high school seniors planning fee-paying enrolment can also apply. Those who did not meet the minimum score in the summer testing session are likewise permitted to retake the exam. Registration is handled through the National Testing Center’s website (app.testcenter.kz) or the UTO mobile app. Applicants can select their preferred testing location, date, and time when submitting their applications. To help with preparation, practice tests, study materials, and recommended reading lists are available. A new career guidance platform, EduNavigator (edunavigator.kz), has also launched to assist applicants in choosing a profession and academic programme.
The January 2026 UNT provides an opportunity for a wide range of applicants to secure university admission. Registration closes on December 30, with testing running from January 10 to February 10. Official resources and preparation materials are accessible to support candidates ahead of the exam.
