Regionally recognized news platform clinches 4 Edward R. Murrow Awards
Local News Outlet Wins Multiple 2025 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards
Our news website has secured four prestigious awards in this year's Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, held by the Radio Television Digital News Association. Recognized for outstanding achievement in both digital and broadcast journalism, these awards highlight excellence in storytelling and newsgathering.
Competing among large-market radio stations in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, our news website stood out in the competitive landscape with stories focusing on climate change, neurodivergence, and music. Among the winning pieces were our Climate Fixers series, which explored local efforts to combat climate change, and investigative reporting on fracking in Pennsylvania and its impact on the 2024 presidential race.
"It is a joyful third-party endorsement of our website's excellence in newsmaking," said Sarah Glover, Vice President of News and Civic Dialogue. "The winning stories reflect solid newsgathering and innovation."
Additionally, our news team was recognized for excellence in digital journalism and sound, as well as for addressing diversity, equity, and inclusion issues. Liz Tung, a reporter on our weekly health and science radio show, received nominations for her reporting on the connection between neurodivergence and burnout. Jennifer Lynn, the Morning Edition host, was awarded Excellence in Sound for her tribute to the late composer and Jewish cantor, Dr. Charles Stuart Davidson.
In August, regional winners will move on to compete at the national level. Past success includes five regional Edward R. Murrow Awards in 2024.
Incorporating top-tier breaking news coverage, investigative reporting, and innovative storytelling, our news website demonstrates a commitment to delivering fact-based, in-depth journalism. As a nonprofit organization, we rely on financial support from our readers to continue providing the community with the trusted and dynamic news coverage it deserves.
Our news website's commitment to education-and-self-development and general-news extends beyond breaking news as the Climate Fixers series and Liz Tung's reporting on neurodivergence and burnout showcase this dedication. Leaving no stone unturned, our team also ventures into entertainment, evidenced by Jennifer Lynn's award-winning tribute to the late Jewish cantor, Dr. Charles Stuart Davidson.
