Unleash Creativity: Comic Drawing Workshops with "Rautie" at Hanau's Kulturforum on April 17 and May 8

Rautie's Comic Workshops for Kids Spark Creativity in Hanau

Nurturing creativity, sparking imagination, and crafting stories through play—that's the invitation from the city of Hanau and renowned comic artist Rautie, who will once again host workshops at the Kulturforum. On Friday, April 17, and Friday, May 8, two comic-drawing sessions will take place from 3:00 to 5:00 PM in the Stadtbibliothek (City Library) at Hanau's Kulturforum.

The workshops are open to children aged eight and up and will be held in the Kinderatelier (Children's Studio) on the second floor of the Kulturforum. Participation costs €15, with all materials—including paper and pencils—provided on-site.

Under Rautie's guidance, young artists will learn step by step how to transform simple stick figures into expressive, imaginative comic characters. Even beginners will quickly discover how to create their own characters and weave them into short stories. The workshop emphasizes playful experimentation and the joy of drawing.

"Programs like Rautie's comic workshop offer children in Hanau an accessible entry point into art and creativity," says Mayor Claus Kaminsky. "These formats not only foster imagination and self-expression but also build essential social skills. We are deeply committed to making cultural education available to all children in our city from an early age."

Beyond his reputation as a comic artist, Rautie has long been involved in cultural and social initiatives in Hanau. As part of the federal program Demokratie leben! (Living Democracy), he serves as a creative partner, teaching children and teens core values such as freedom of expression, diversity, and civic participation. His work demonstrates how artistic programs can help instill democratic principles at a young age. "Cultural education opportunities like this workshop make a vital contribution to children's personal growth," Kaminsky adds. "They strengthen creativity, communication skills, and confidence."

Registration is required by email. Parents can sign their children up for one of the two sessions by contacting [email protected]. Spaces are limited.
