Radio Host David Cantero expresses readiness to host a show with his unique flair
David Cantero, a renowned journalist with a career spanning over three decades, is set to embark on a new adventure as the host of RNE's afternoon shows, starting September 1st.
Cantero's journey in journalism began in 1982 when he joined RNE as a camera operator. After two years, he was appointed as the Correspondent for Italy, marking the start of his international career.
In 1997, he returned to Spain and became a presenter for the regional news program Telesur in Andalusia. He presented all editions of Telediario and Informe Semanal until 2010, when he left the public channel after 28 years of service.
After more than three years as the Correspondent for Italy and working as a reporter, Cantero found himself drawn to a new location. During a field trip led by a teacher from RNE, he visited Prado del Rey for the first time and fell in love with the place.
Now, Cantero is taking over from Lourdes Maldonado, who has been presenting the weekend Telediario alongside Marc Sala. He will co-host the radio program "Las tardes de RNE" with Marta Solano.
Despite his extensive career in television, Cantero has never worked in radio before. However, he approaches this new challenge with great enthusiasm. He views this as a kind of epilogue to his long career and plans to bring his own personality, strengths, and weaknesses to the show.
Cantero feels somewhat like a newcomer compared to his co-workers, but he is determined to do his best. He believes it's important to be oneself on the radio and is looking forward to this unique opportunity to connect with listeners in a different way.
For Cantero, this new job is not just a job, but a new chapter in his life. He is approaching it with the same passion and dedication that has defined his career thus far. As he prepares to start his new role on September 1st, Cantero is filled with anticipation and excitement for what the future holds.
