A third of ninth-graders and a fifth of eleventh-graders express anxiety over the Russian language, according to a survey conducted by "Umskull" platform. Complexities in grammar rules and numerous exceptions are causes of concern. An essay component on exams adds to the pressure, as not every student is adept at articulating thoughts coherently. Russian, being a mandatory subject without which certification is not issued, contributes to the overall stress.

Mathematics, another mandatory subject, proves equally challenging. However, it is ranked lower on students' list of concerns. Social Studies poses difficulties for ten percent of ninth-graders and fifteen percent of eleventh-graders, ironically making it the most popular elective subject. This year, 44% of participants are writing Social Studies for the OGE, and 38% for the EGE.
Students named the quality of preparation and the volume of knowledge as the most decisive factors in exam results, with 38% devoting 3-4 hours a day to studies. Distinct stress levels and sheer luck also play a role, with 74% of students experiencing some degree of burnout.

To alleviate stress, rest and sleep, music or podcasts, conversations with friends and family, and parental support are the most effective methods. From September 2025, the study of Social Studies will commence in the eighth grade, as per the Ministry of Education's announcement. By 2026, it will be exclusive to upper classes (9-11th). Previously, "Society" lessons' content was either duplicated with history lessons or simplified for sixth-graders. The revamped course will be briefer but more intensive.
