Pune Book Festival Breaks Guinness Record with 27,000 Eco-Pledges

The Pune Book Festival has set a new Guinness World Record for the Largest Online Video Album of People Reciting an Oath or Pledge. Organised by the National Book Trust (NBT), India, the initiative drew over 27,000 video submissions, with participants pledging to reduce waste, conserve water, and protect nature. The record-breaking achievement was announced during the festival, which attracted more than 10 lakh visitors. Hundreds of schools, colleges, and institutions participated in the campaign, with the pledge recited in English, Hindi, and Marathi to encourage widespread involvement. The initiative was designed to harness the festival's large audience for greater public engagement in environmental protection. Dignitaries, including Mr. Yuvraj Malik, Director of NBT, and Mr. K. Ganesh, Director of Bisleri International, attended the announcement. Malik highlighted the pledge's role in linking knowledge with responsible citizenship, while Ganesh noted the rising awareness of environmental responsibility. Santosh Kumar played a key role in coordinating the effort. Shri Rajesh Pandey ji, Chief Convener of the Pune Book Festival, acknowledged the team's dedication in making the campaign a success. The Guinness World Record reflects the festival's ability to mobilise large-scale participation for an environmental cause. With over 27,000 validated entries, the environmental pledge reached a diverse audience, underscoring the growing public commitment to sustainability through collective action.
