Primary school registration for 2027 opens February 23—here’s what parents need
School registration for children starting primary arms in summer 2027 will open on Monday, February 23, 2024. Parents and guardians must attend between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM at their child’s designated school. The process applies to all children turning six before September 1, 2027, including those with suspected or confirmed disabilities.
Registration is mandatory for every child reaching compulsory school age by the cut-off date. Schools are assigned based on the child’s home address, with districts covering areas like Oberbieber, Torney, Irlich, and others. Parents must bring the child’s birth certificate or family record book, along with proof of measles immunisation.
Children not yet old enough for compulsory schooling may still enrol if they show developmental readiness. Requests for early admission must be made by parents or legal guardians. Registration for these younger pupils will take place in February 2025 instead. The city’s primary arms include the Marienschule, Geschwister-Scholl-Schule, Friedrich-Ebert-Schule (which offers extended all-day programmes), and Carmen-Sylva-Schule in Niederbieber. Other participating schools are Heddesdorfer Berg, Sonnenlandschule, St. Georg, Feldkirchen, Wied, Wülfersberg, Margaretenschule, Maria-Goretti, and Kunostein. The exact school for each district will be confirmed during registration.
The registration window on February 23, 2024, marks the first step for children entering primary arms in 2027. All required documents must be presented in person at the assigned school.
