Police in the Recklinghausen/Bottrop district embarking on novel approaches - "AddressBAR" tailored for youths
Recklinghausen Police Launch Dialogue Series for Students
The Recklinghausen Police Headquarters is set to launch an engaging dialogue series called "AnsprechBAR - the police shares information." The series, titled "Die Polizei informiert," is specifically targeted towards students and aims to foster an exchange at eye level.
The kick-off event will take place next Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the Paul-Spiegel-Berufskolleg in Dorsten. After this initial event, the police will bring the dialogue series to every other city in their area of responsibility.
The series will focus on enlightening students about digital crime, everyday dangers, prevent violence and radicalization, promote media literacy, and build trust between the police and young people. Topics to be discussed include online dangers, knife violence, radicalization, and civil courage.
The events will be held in a modern, interactive format, with young people having the opportunity to engage in conversation with police officers from different departments. The police president emphasizes that for prevention and enlightenment to reach young people, the events must be exciting, relevant, and emotionally engaging.
To make the events even more engaging, the police are using an Airstream trailer as an eye-catcher and incorporating interactive formats and visual stimuli. Information alone is not enough, the police president states, and the topics must evoke emotions, generate tension, and show concrete courses of action.
Young people want to be taken seriously, not lectured to, and want to be involved, have a say, and co-create. The press is welcome to the events, with a brief registration required with the police press office. Media representatives are asked to register with the police press office for coverage of the events.
The dates for the series can be found on the police's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/polizei.nrw.re. The series will continue at various schools in the Recklinghausen district and the city of Bottrop until early October.
After the initial events, the AnsprechBAR dialogue series will continue to visit cities in the police's area of responsibility. The police president states that the series is just the beginning of a larger effort to engage with young people and address the issues that matter most to them.
