PH gets 80,000 new teachers

The Philippines will welcome around 80,000 new teachers after the September and November 2025 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT). The results, released recently, show a 65% passing rate among the 122,528 examinees who took the test.

Out of the total examinees, 21,967 passed for elementary teaching positions, while 57,729 succeeded in secondary education. Among elementary passers, 19,924 were first-time takers, and 2,043 were repeaters. For secondary teaching, 52,207 first-timers and 5,522 repeaters made the cut.

The results of 49 examinees remain withheld due to ongoing investigations, and three others await document verification. Those who passed will need to complete registration for their Professional Identification Card (PRC ID) and Certificate of Registration between January 5 and March 2, 2026. Required documents include the Notice of Admission, a filled-out Oath Form, two passport photos, two sets of documentary stamps, and a short brown envelope. Oathtaking ceremonies for the new teachers will be scheduled later, with dates and venues to be announced. Meanwhile, Paraguay has separately announced plans to hire over 79,000 new teachers for primary and secondary schools in 2026, according to recent educational reports.

The LEPT results bring nearly 80,000 newly qualified teachers into the Philippine education system. Registration for their professional credentials will open in early January 2026, with further details on oathtaking ceremonies to follow.
