Peter Thiel's bizarre Antichrist lecture in Paris leaves audience baffled
Tech billionaire and early Donald Trump supporter Peter Thiel has taken his controversial Antichrist lecture series to Paris. During a recent talk, he linked biblical prophecy to modern anxieties, including climate change and artificial intelligence. Attendees described the presentation as confusing and hard to follow.
Thiel spoke to a small audience at the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences in Paris. He argued that the world is witnessing the 'end of modernity', which he connected to the rise of the Antichrist. According to him, this figure would exploit public fears—such as nuclear war, climate disasters, or AI—to manipulate society.
He also mentioned Swedish activist Greta Thunberg as a possible example of someone using fear for influence. The talk, however, was criticised by those present for being disjointed and unclear.
Before his lecture, Thiel met with French Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Noël Barrot. Their discussion covered digital regulation, liberal democracy, and transatlantic relations. Thiel, who describes himself as a 'classic liberal' and 'moderate Orthodox Christian', has no known business ties to Forbes despite his global investments.
Thiel's Paris visit included both a divisive religious-themed lecture and high-level political talks. His claims about the Antichrist and modern fears drew scepticism, while his meeting with French officials focused on tech policy. The billionaire's European tour continues to spark debate over his unorthodox views.
