Peruvian Rotary Club Informed About Recent Agricultural Program Developments by Lima Chapter

La Salle-Peru Township High School has embarked on a mission to revitalize its dormant agriculture program, with significant backing from the community.

At a recent presentation to the Peru Rotary, Superintendent Dr. Steven Wrobleski announced a substantial $2.5 million pledge from a former student, which will contribute towards the construction of a new agriculture building. This investment will make up approximately half the necessary cost.

Wrobleski referred to the endeavor as a "replanting" of the program. He and newly hired instructor Riley Hintzsche have set initial objectives for the rejuvenated program, including the creation of a curriculum encompassing animal and plant science, ag mechanics, and the resurrection of the school's FFA chapter. The FFA chapter has already been re-chartered.

Hintzsche, coming from Streator High School, is recognized for his agricultural teaching prowess on a national level. His vision is to develop a modern, accessible facility for the revitalized program. An estimated seven years are required to fully implement a comprehensive program, according to Hintzsche.

As many as forty students have registered for the program this fall, with their learning experiences centering around classroom instruction, FFA activities, and supervised ag experiences outside the classroom.

Community members gathered on May 5, 2025, for a celebration marking the return of FFA and the future of agriculture education at La Salle-Peru High School (information not in original text). The revival of the agriculture program represents a significant effort to boost educational opportunities for students in this field. The details for the new ag building have yet to be disclosed. However, the focus on program revitalization suggests infrastructure improvements may be part of future plans.

The revitalization of La Salle-Peru High School's agriculture program, as announced by Superintendent Dr. Steven Wrobleski, includes the creation of a curriculum that emphasizes learning in areas such as animal and plant science, ag mechanics, and education-and-self-development through the FFA chapter. The new agriculture building, funded by a generous pledge, will serve as a foundation for this science-based learning environment.
