PEI Libraries Get Two New Maritime Discovery Kits for Climate Education

Prince Edward Island's public libraries are set to receive two new Maritime-focused Discovery Kits, launching on November 6, 2025. These kits, part of Ocean Wise's 'Building Resilient Futures: Climate Education for PEI' initiative, aim to inspire young learners to connect with their local marine environments and foster the next generation of ocean stewards.

The kits, funded by the provincial Climate Challenge Fund, contain an array of engaging educational materials. Young learners can explore mini microscopes, marine artifacts, and even real seal claws. Bilingual lesson plans are also included, aligning with PEI's curriculum to ensure seamless integration into classroom activities.

To access these kits, simply visit your local library or browse the Public Library Service Catalogue to place a request. The initiative, one of ten climate action projects funded by the provincial Climate Challenge Fund, seeks to empower youth and promote climate education across the province.

Starting November 6, 2025, two new Maritime-focused Discovery Kits will be available for borrowing from PEI's public libraries. These kits, part of Ocean Wise's 'Building Resilient Futures: Climate Education for PEI' initiative, offer immersive, hands-on learning experiences for students from kindergarten to Grade 12, blending science, Indigenous knowledge, and local climate realities. The kits are designed to inspire young learners to engage with their local marine environments and contribute to a sustainable future.
